If one would analyze her medical career, which is coming up on 50 years by now, one would find that Dr. Gail Weingast is among the most successful radiologists in the country, certainly one of the best in New England, anyway. This is doubly remarkable when you consider that it wasn’t clear at the beginning of her career journey that medicine was a calling. For young Gail Weingast, her education didn’t start with a degree in biology, or pre-med, or chemistry, as is the case for most would-be doctors. No, the education of the future Dr. Gail Weingast launched when she earned a Bachelor’sDegree in Spanish, which she earned from Tufts University.

Apparently, the realization that Gail Weingast wanted to become a doctor came soon after her Spanish education because she soon after attended the Boston University School of Medicine, and she officially became Dr. Gail Weingast MD in 1976. That said, however, like all M.D.s, Dr. Gail Weingast quickly came to the realization that her medical degree was just the beginning of her medical education. Dr. Weingast completed a pediatrics internship and residency between 1977 and 1980, then followed those up with a radiology residency from 1980-1983. She then competed a fellowship in ultrasound in 1983 and finished her post-graduate studies as a radiologist in 1984.
